Abstract

Abstract: This article examines the socio-political situation in the Emirate of Bukhara during the mid-nineteenth century, with particular emphasis on the relationship between provincial principalities and the central government. It analyzes the emergence of separatist tendencies and their manifestations through the cases of the Shahrisabz and Kitob principalities. Special attention is given to the political weakening of the Emirate, military campaigns undertaken by the central authority, and the strategies employed by regional rulers to preserve their autonomy, including the high level of military preparedness among the local population.
