Abstract

Abstract: This article examines the causes, consequences, and preventive measures of mouth breathing, emphasizing its impact on orofacial and dental development. It outlines common reasons, such as nasal obstruction, allergic rhinitis, and habitual oral breathing by illness, and explains the functional changes that occur in the maxilla, mandible, and facial muscles. The article also highlights the oral health consequences, including dry mouth, increased risk of dental caries, and temporomandibular disorders. Also, it reviews diagnostic methods and treatment strategies, highlighting the importance of early detection and successful management.
