Abstract
Abstract: Polysemy represents one of the most significant semantic phenomena in natural languages, reflecting the ability of a single lexical unit to develop multiple related meanings. In the English language, polysemy plays a central role in lexical expansion and semantic flexibility. The present study examines the structural and functional characteristics of polysemy in English and analyzes the mechanisms through which new meanings emerge in the lexical system.
