Abstract
Abstract. This article analyzes the process of German unification, the activities of Otto von Bismarck, the conflicts between France, Austria, and Prussia, and the transformation of Germany into a leading power in Europe. Furthermore, it discusses the Franco-Prussian War of 1870–1871, the emergence of the German Empire, and the resulting new balance of power in Europe.
