Abstract. This article examines the critical relationship between design theory and methodology in contemporary design practice. It explores how theoretical frameworks inform methodological approaches and vice versa, proposing an integrated model for more effective design problem-solving. Through analysis of key theories (including systems thinking, human-centered design, and critical design) and methodologies (such as design thinking, double diamond, and agile design), the article identifies gaps between conceptual understanding and practical application. A case study demonstrates how theoretical awareness enhances methodological choices in real projects. The article concludes with recommendations for design education and practice that better integrate theory and methodology.
