Abstract
Abstract. This article provides a comparative analysis of the main pragmatic
acts in Uzbek and English - request, refusal and offer strategies. The study was
considered in relation to the speech culture, cultural values, social distance and norms
of communicative behavior of the two languages. The article analyzes the specific
pragmatic models, language tools, mitigation strategies and cultural differences of each
speech act.
