Abstract
Abstract. This article provides a comparative analysis of speech etiquette in
Uzbek and English from a cultural and pragmatic perspective. The study analyzed
forms of address and speech acts of greeting in the national and cultural context of the
two languages. The differences between pragmatic strategies, social distance, role
relationships and communicative tasks of both languages were highlighted.
